About the Founder

Shanna Flowers is the founder of The Factory of SELF Inc. She was born and raised in Orlando, FL. She spent all her childhood in a predominately black neighborhood. Growing up, she faced many challenges from the issues at home, school and in her neighborhood. Fortunately, beating all odds against her she graduated from Jones High School (Orlando, FL).  Shanna attended Valencia Community College for two years and after a break from school, she decided to move from her environment to further her education at the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, FL. Shanna earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and graduated with honors.  In 2018, Shanna graduated from the University of Central Florida with a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management.

Shanna is currently a C-18 Juvenile Probation Officer and has been with the Department of Juvenile Justice for almost 5 years. Shanna is also a youth leader and praise and worship leader at her local church. Shanna has always had a passion for singing and helping people in any way she could especially the youth. From volunteering with the seniors at local nursing homes to assisting with community functions and church events, Shanna have always enjoyed being active in her community and surrounding areas, as a peace advocate.

Shanna has been working with youth and families at church and in her community for over 12 years.  Shanna always knew that there was a special calling on her life. Throughout Shanna's life, God would show her dreams concerning her purpose in life. In 2013, God gave her a glimpse of what was to come. What she saw seemed financially impossible. But she knew to trust God, for if he gave her such a vision, he would make the provisions. Thankfully, Shanna's mother Dr. Janice Flowers taught her how to pray at an early age about EVERYTHING and for ANYTHING. As a result, the Factory of SELF Inc. (TFOSI), is a nonprofit mentoring organization, birthed in 2014. SELF stands for Support, Education, Leadership and Focus. TFOSI was established to help restore youth and families through mentorship. TFOSI have creative programs and workshops geared to help youth and families from all walks of life, aiding them in becoming more productive in their every day lives.

FROM SHANNA

 “In 2013, I started writing ideas as God gave them to me and those ideas became a reality in 2014 when we launched our first project (the Teen Identity Project). Creating fun and exciting ways for people to learn skills to help them become more productive citizens is a privilege”. “I knew God had something important for me to do after he spared me not once but multiple times. I should be dead by now but God….”
I can relate to all the youth that I come in contact with in some way or another. I’ve gone through a lot as a youth and even as an adult . . .. I am still young but I have many testimonies to share with anyone willing to listen….”;
